Whereas Huronia Road is a major road that runs along the border of Barrie and Innisfil; and Whereas the City of Barrie is responsible for and maintains Huronia Road and is in the process of expanding it to 4 lanes; and Whereas the Town’s understanding is that part of that plan is to expropriate lands within Innisfil's boundary; and Whereas there has been very little communication to the Town of Innisfil by the City of Barrie on this project; and Whereas part of this land in Innisfil is owned by National Pines Golf Club; and Council Minutes June 28, 2023 Whereas this removal of land will extremely affect National Pines Golf Club by taking any buffer between the golf course and the road, and its water well is situated on the land in question; and Whereas the lands on the west side of Huronia Road are in the City of Barrie limits. Therefore, be it hereby resolved that the Town of Innisfil requests the City of Barrie to consider: a) moving the proposed project expansion completely within Barrie's City limits on the west side of Huronia/10 Sideroad; and b) take steps to limit the negative impacts of the project, including road closures, on the National Pines Golf Course property on the east side of Huronia/10 Sideroad; and c) limit the loss of land within the Innisfil boundary.
